No kidding; this theater is in someone’s house! This is NOT your father's Death Star theater... unless, of course, you happen to be Luke Skywalker. We fabricated this custom home theater with automatic doors and twinkling star fields.
As Marlon Brando would yell, "Stellar!"
Our designers offer the creativity and quality to transform an ordinary space into an ultimate custom environment. We can work with your concept; or we can dream one up for you.
CHIANG! - The owners of this residence commissioned Doug Chiang who produced the original concepts for the theater. Who better than a Star Wars designer to design a theater based on the Death Star?
Phenomenal!
We were given various illustrations of different views of the room which we translated into shop drawings. We took Doug's incredible vision, and transformed it into reality. We can transform your environment too!
The Sky(walker)’s the Limit - When we first arrived on the jobsite, this room was a drywall box. We installed all of the surfaces as components pre-built in our shop; including sound panels we designed for the desired acoustical effect.
In space, no one can hear you hammer
You might think you were at the hub of the galactic empire, but you’re not. This is a residential theater.
To infinity, and beyond - The lobby has a raised floor and lowered ceiling to resemble the gangplanks in the Death Star. We applied mirrors to the floor and ceiling which reflect the walls so they appear to go on forever.
It’s a special effect
We employ all sorts of tricks used in Hollywood; including some from magicians and illusionists. It's details and like this that we feel make a difference in your project.
Environmental Authenticity - Another feature is the automatic pocket doors leading into the theater. Our clients wanted the doors to operate quietly, because doors that go “psssshhhhh” when they open are from Star Trek, not Star Wars. Did you hear that? No? Mission accomplished!
Silent Running
These original framed movie posters hanging in the theater “lobby” are only one of many features which add authenticity to the site.
Undersea Classic - Based on the Nautilus submarine from the Disney movie classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea", this private home theater immerses viewers in dimensional rusty steel that would make Captain Nemo feel at home.
Dive! Dive! Dive!
Tufted red velvet panels, a hand sculpted screen surround, and molded bronze squid medallions complement the other finishes in the space. The hatch on the ceiling actually houses the projector.
Stern View - This theater was fabricated in modular elements which were shipped from our facility just north of Seattle and installed in a private residence many states away.
Cinemascope Periscope
The tufted red velvet wall panels are not just part of the look; they are also part of the room's acoustical design. When you are watching a movie, you don’t want it to sound like Das Boot. (Unless you happen to be watching Das Boot)
Dive in! - This full-scale replica of the movie dive suit is a great example of the kind of detail our customers have come to expect from us. We based this re-creation on images from various sources.
Can popcorn cure seasickness?
Made of fiberglass, plastic, cloth and even some real parts, this dry suit looks like the real deal. Our goal is not only to meet, but to exceed our customer’s expectations. Done and done!
I’ll take Door Number One, Monty - Complete with a watertight door and full-scale replica of the movie dive suit, the only thing missing is Peter Lorre!
Down the hatch
While the hatch really can't withstand the crushing water pressure of being submerged to a depth of 3,000 feet; we do know that you can "decompress" when you walk in the hatch to relax and watch a movie.
Thomas and Friend - We fabricated “Thomas the Tank Engine” using plywood, paint and vinyl graphics.
Full Steam Ahead
Thomas’ face is made with a flexible urethane “skin” allowing for a mouth that opens and closes when manipulated by a puppeteer and eyes that can move up, down and all around.
All the World's a Stage - We created this stage set for the Christian Faith Center’s Youth Ministry programs. This set features a fun, stylized town complete with Pet and Sporting Goods stores, Movie Theater and Bicycle Shop.
That's a wrap!
Our client's goal was to provide a safe, fun, and exciting learning environment for kids. Our goal was to make our client's vision a reality. DONE and DONE.
Age Appropriate - This is the second of two stage sets we designed, fabricated and installed for the CFC’s Youth Ministry programs.
Industrial Packaging
Phase 2, for teenagers, is an industrial environment with various oversized turbines, gears and gauges, LED lights, illuminated signage, and projection screens.
